Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SOS is only able to offer essential services. This includes: Meals on Wheels, Emergency Assistance & Advocacy (by phone),  Seniors Advocacy (by phone), Counselling Referral (online), Seniors grocery shopping and Friendly Phone Visiting (through Oceanside Better at Home and BC211), the Homeless Prevention Program and the Income Tax program (by phone). SOS Thrift Shop is open as of June 15, 2020 with limited hours and new procedures to keep you safe. Please visit the Thrift Shop page for more information. SOS Community Services Centres are closed, and volunteer activities are suspended with the exception of a few areas. For more information or for assistance, call 250-248-2093. Monetary donations are critical at this time to keep our services available. If you are able, please consider donating. Joshua Dennis

Joshua and his partner Sandra moved to this area from North Eastern BC. He is a web developer working on open source education software. Some of the areas where he has previously volunteered include Thailand, after the 2004 Tsunami, he has worked with international organizations to bring computer technology to rural areas of Myanmar, and he is currently working with a charity to retrofit dozens of schools with modern computer technology. Josh has been serving on the SOS Board since 2017.
