SOS is a volunteer-based non-profit organization meeting the needs and improving the lives of District 69 residents since 1968. SOS provides more than 25 local programs and services to all ages, including programs that meet basic needs and promote healthy living and social connections.

We are looking for a motivated, creative individual who has a deep knowledge of social media, knows how to craft engaging stories online and in print, and has a keen eye for photography. This position has a fixed hybrid work model, with a blend of in-office and remote work.

Working closely with the Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator proposes exciting ideas for social media and print campaigns, produces the content, and coordinates their effective delivery. You will keep up to date with current trends online; monitor and report on communications’ impact and performance; increase awareness of the organization and help grow social media following. You will capture compelling photos and videos for use in various communications materials; ensure consistent messaging across all platforms; and help produce a variety of print and online communication materials, among other tasks.

 Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Completion of Post-Secondary training in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience managing and executing social media campaigns on a variety of platforms.
  • Talented writer and photographer and keen ability to capture a story with visuals.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop and InDesign) and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to commute into Parksville regularly.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Hours of Work:                   35 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Compensation:                   $43,680 annual salary
