As income tax season begins to wind down, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible volunteers who make the SOS Income Tax Program possible each year. 💙So far this season, over 1,220 community members have registered and 1,017 tax returns have been filed, helping local residents access essential benefits and credits. For many, this program provides critical support, affordability and peace of mind.“I was searching on the internet for a program like this and this is exactly what I wanted. I lack the confidence in English and I need help to complete my taxes.”Residents also rely on the program because of rising financial pressures. “I cannot afford the ever-increasing cost of doing the necessary yearly tax returns. I’m already using other SOS programs and this is very convenient. I’m sure for the disabled and the elderly, this program is a necessity.”For some, it offers support during major life changes. “First time I’m using the tax program. I am now low-income, single, and on disability. Life has been an extreme change in the last two years and getting used to my mental and physical and financial limitations.”And for many, it simply provides essential help when they need it most. “This program has really helped because I can’t afford to pay to get my taxes done. People need help.”To every volunteer who has dedicated their time, knowledge and compassion this season, thank you. Your work is making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout our community. #VolunteerAppreciation #CommunitySupport #IncomeTaxProgram #Parksville #QualicumBeach #Nanoosebay #Oceanside #VanIsle #VancouverIsland #SOS #WeAreCommunity ...
