As a grassroots organization, SOS works with the support of community to address local needs.

“LOAF is fundamentally a low-waste food production business, but when we do have leftovers, the goal is to always find someone for it to go to. Food waste is an issue we are very passionate about not adding to.” ~ Owners of LOAF, Elizabeth and JamesLOAF has been donating extra pastries and bread to SOS Child, Youth & Family programs, helping ensure good food goes where it’s needed most.“We learned about the SOS and the programs they offer very early on when we started the business. It was a no brainer to donate anything we had leftover to whichever programs could use it most,” said Elizabeth. At SOS, free, nutritious food is part of every Child, Youth & Family program. It helps young people feel energized, safe and supported. Sharing meals and snacks helps build connection, and SOS wants to help every child have access to a delicious and nourishing snacks and meals.LOAF’s support has also grown into hands-on learning, with their team joining the Kid’s Movement Program to teach children simple recipes.“It’s a privilege for us to be able to donate sourdough and treats that are made with high quality ingredients. Whenever possible, we source our ingredients locally and giving that back to the community that it came from, is a really lovely full circle.”This National Nutrition Month, we’re grateful for partners like LOAF oceanside. #FoodWasteReduction #CommunitySupport #LocalBaking #NutritionForAll #FoodDonation #ZeroWasteLiving #YouthPrograms #Parksville #Qualicum #NanooseBay #Oceanside #VanIsle #VancouverIsland #NutritionMonth #NutritionMonthCanada #NationalNutritionMonth #NourishToFlourish #SOS #WeAreCommunity ...
