Get Ready for a Spooktacular Costume Hunt at SOS Thrift Shop!

Ghosts and goblins, Moana, Buzz Lightyear, Stuart the Minion. A child dressed as one of these characters may be knocking on your door on Halloween night. Or they may be your own kids heading out to trick-or-treat the neighbours. Where could they get those costumes that delight, dazzle, or send shivers down your spine? One of the best places to look is SOS Thrift Shop, and now is the time to start thinking about a unique or innovative costume.
You can get clothes from SOS Thrift Shop at a very reasonable price; you supply the imagination at no cost at all. You can find one-of-a-kind retro dresses at affordable prices, along with masks, wigs, hats and props to turn that lovable child into Smurfette or the Minion’s Count Dave’Acula. Or into a ghostly figure dressed in an old sheet. Your older daughter might even find a use for a slightly used wedding dress.
As well as being a source for low-cost clothes, income from sales of these items at the Thrift Shop support SOS programs for children, youth, families and seniors. Last year year, SOS helped 4,984 clients in the Parksville and Qualicum Beach region (District 69), from newborns to older adults looking for meaningful connections or facing health or financial hardship.
Once Halloween is past, remember you can donate and recycle the costumes you made through the Thrift Shop, keeping them out of the landfill while inspiring another family’s costume ideas for next Halloween.
