Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SOS is only able to offer essential services. This includes: Meals on Wheels, Emergency Assistance & Advocacy (by phone),  Seniors Advocacy (by phone), Counselling Referral (online), Seniors grocery shopping and Friendly Phone Visiting (through Oceanside Better at Home and BC211), the Homeless Prevention Program and the Income Tax program (by phone). SOS Thrift Shop is open as of June 15, 2020 with limited hours and new procedures to keep you safe. Please visit the Thrift Shop page for more information. SOS Community Services Centres are closed, and volunteer activities are suspended with the exception of a few areas. Supporting Tenancy through Action and Resources

STAR program

This interactive and educational program sets residents up to be successful renters. The classes are interactive and fun and require participants to be present and ready to learn. Some of the topics covered include living with others, budgeting and rights and responsibilities. The program is offered twice a year, in the Spring and Fall. 

The Fall 2018 sessions will take place:

Monday, March 5-9 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the SOS Community Services Centre in Parksville.
(245 West Hirst Ave.)

There are prizes and a certificate will be issued upon completion of the program (participants must attend all classes to receive the certificate.) Must be 16 years or older to attend.
