Friendly Colouring Contest for Ages 0-5!


Colour our Thrift Shop, get a swag bag and more!

SOS is encouraging all local children ages 0-5 to use their creativity and imagination to colour our Thrift Shop! Have fun wth colours or shapes, and then have a parent/caregiver help you write what you love about SOS Thrift Shop! All entries will be hung on the wall upstairs in the Thrift Shop and artists will receive an SOS swag bag with goodies. Plus one lucky winner will get $25 in Thrift Shop Gift Certificates! (decided by a draw).

Click here to open and download the colouring sheet, or pick one up at the SOS Thrift Shop (Monday – Saturday 9 am – 4 pm) or the SOS Community Services Centre in Parksville (8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday, closed between noon and 1 pm).

Please hand in your colouring sheet by Thursday, August 19. The winner will be announced on August 23. The contest is open to all local children ages 0-5 living in District 69 (Nanoose Bay to Bowser). Good luck and have fun!

Thank you everyone for your amazing submissions! We had a wonderful time viewing all of these and we know they will impress and delight everyone who views them. Please vote only once and write your name and your vote in the comments section. Winners will be announced June 21.

 

1. Auraelia Alexander solves the Rubik’s Cube. Age 11. “I was inspired to solve the Rubik’s Cube in a short amount of time because I like to challenge myself.” Click here to watch the video.

 

 

 

2. Finnley Doerksen loves gardening. Age 8. “My talent is gardening. I like picking strawberries and eating them. My inspiration for gardening comes from my mom.” Click photo to enlarge.

 

 

 

3. Zachary Doerksen can balance on the Railway tracks. Age 8. “My identical twin brother is Finnley Doerksen. My talent is balancing while walking on the railroad for a long time.  I like doing it because its good for your balance and its fun. 5. Clodagh Donohoe’s Interior design and architecture. Age 10. “I love interior design and architecture. I have a business named Clodagh Interiors. My mum is Kim Donohoe. This is a project I have been working on for a while now, and I thought it would be a good design for your contest. 6. Nikki Davies – Horseback Riding with no hands. Age 10. “Horses are the best animal in the world, they are very strong and smart. Riding horses makes me feel good and happy.” Click here to watch the video.

SOS Annual General Meeting
June 30, 2021 at 7 pm

Dear SOS Members,

Due to COVID-19, we are again scheduling our AGM as a virtual meeting on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 7:00 pm.
We are posting this invitation for members on our website, sending it via email and mailing it only to Members whose email address we do not have. Please see the AGM invitation below with more information. Please RSVP by June 18, if you plan to attend the meeting virtually via Zoom. We will forward the Zoom link/phone number, and the agenda package, to those members who RSVP by the deadline.

As large gatherings are still not permitted, we have opted for a virtual meeting. Zoom meetings allow access via a computer or by phone (number allocated by Zoom). If you plan to attend the meeting, please familiarize yourself with the free Zoom software (https: //zoom.us/resources).
