SOS provides more than 20 local programs and services to all ages, including programs that meet basic needs and promote healthy living and social connections.
Are you someone who enjoys driving and connecting with people? Join SOS and play a meaningful role in helping community members stay connected, independent, and engaged. As a Casual Bus Driver, you will be a vital part of our team—helping reduce isolation and improve quality of life by providing safe, reliable transportation to programs, grocery trips, and community outings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a 17-seater SOS bus
- Transport program participants to and from the SOS Community Service Centre
- Provide transportation for grocery trips and to occasional outings/events
- Support a welcoming and respectful environment for passengers
- Maintaining the vehicle in accordance with SOS Driver/Vehicle Procedure Manual and SOS policies
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness by regularly moping, vacuuming, taking it through the carwash, etc.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Class 4 Driver’s License: no restrictions and an acceptable driver’s abstract
- Friendly, reliable and strong interpersonal skills
- Comfortable interacting with a diverse range of community members
- Ability to assist passengers entering/exiting the vehicle (light mobility support if required)
- Comfortable driving a larger vehicle in varying weather conditions
- Role is ideal for individuals seeking part-time or supplemental hours, including retirees or those who enjoy flexible work and community involvement
