Love to make a difference and support youth learning. Do you have a passion for teaching and mentoring youth? We are looking for 2 Contracted Tutors for our Tutoring Program for Grades 6-12 at our Community Services Centre.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teach and support the BC curriculum in Math and English for students in Grades 6–12 enrolled in School District 69.
- Provide one-on-one tutoring to help students strengthen academic skills and meet their learning goals.
- Support students who require remedial assistance in Math and/or English.
- Assist students in developing study skills, organizational strategies, and effective learning habits.
- Foster a positive, engaging, and encouraging learning environment that promotes confidence and academic success.
- Conduct tutoring sessions at the SOS Community Services Centre, 245 Hirst Avenue West, Parksville, BC.
Qualifications:
- Teaching qualifications are preferred.
- Experience tutoring or teaching youth in Math and/or English.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with youth.
- Passion for supporting student learning and success.
- Applicants should reside in, or be able to reliably travel to, the Parksville–Qualicum area for scheduled tutoring sessions.
Hours of Work: After-School Monday – Thursday from 3:45 pm to 5:45 pm (program follows the school calendar). 1 hour per student each week, 2 students per day.
Rate of Pay: $30.00 per hour
Start Date: September 21, 2026 or as soon as a suitable candidate is identified.
