SOS is a volunteer-based non-profit organization meeting the needs and improving the lives of District 69 residents since 1968. SOS provides more than 20 local programs and services to all ages, including programs that meet basic needs and promote healthy living and social connections.
The SOS Thrift Shop Assistant will receive hands‑on training in the daily operations of a large Thrift Shop, supporting customer service, merchandising, and working as a cashier. You will help ensure the safe and efficient processing of donated goods while maintaining a clean and organized store environment. You will participate in team meetings and training, and uphold all SOS policies and standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs Program – between 19 and 30 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada
- High school diploma
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Training and/or experience in customer service preferred
- Cash register and point of sale experience preferred
- Demonstrated teamwork and the ability to work effectively with staff and volunteers
- Initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Able to follow established procedures
- Physically fit – able to do heavy lifting in a safe manner
- Knowledgeable of current fashions and trends preferred
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (8:30am – 4:30pm, includes weekends)
Compensation: $18.25/hour (+ 4% vacation pay)
Contract Dates: May 25 to July 17, 2026 (8 weeks)
